COVID-19 – Coronavirus Statement

Update: Both locations are now temporarily closed for the duration of the crisis.

If you’ve been paying close attention to the news this week (as all of us at Bowls have), you’ve no doubt been a little overwhelmed by the worrying news about the COVID-19 coronavirus. The world at large is trying its best to navigate the rapidly evolving situation surrounding the spread of COVID-19. Because of this, every one of us has a part to play in “flattening the curve” in order to slow the spread.

We share your concerns. At Bowls, the health and safety of our customers and staff has always been our #1 priority. That won’t change. Beyond that, we’ve come to develop a very close relationship with many of our customers who have come to rely on our delicious, nourishing, and quick food. So it’s our hope that we can reassure you on some key issues.

First: Bowls, like all restaurants, is required by the Health Department to meet stringent requirements when it comes to cleaning and sanitizing and in preparing, cooking, and serving food. We have consistently obtained the highest marks during our inspections obtaining an A grade as recently as our last inspection which was just a couple of weeks ago. We have several Serv-Safe food managers on staff, including our entire staff at the Milwaukee location. This is well above all requirements.

Additionally, last week we initiated additional cleaning procedures including more frequent sanitization of all surfaces touched by customers or employees in the restaurant. We have also added hand sanitizer near the register. We are monitoring the situation closely and out of an abundance of caution we have decided to make the following changes effective Monday, March 16 at our Milwaukee location:

  • We will be closing the dining room and locking the front door. We will only be taking orders for carryout (direct, via phone, or through website) or delivery (through website). All orders should be picked up at our pickup window facing the sidewalk just west of the entrance door. If you want to minimize time, then please order online (see below – requires payment) or ask to pay over the phone when you call.
  • For carryout, please either call us at 414-800-5667 or, better yet, place an order online selecting the pickup option through this link: https://direct.chownow.com/order/13950/locations
  • For delivery orders of $30 or more, please use the above link as well if possible (this results in the lowest fee to us) and select delivery as your order option. For smaller orders we have the following delivery options that each charge us a significant percentage fee. In order of lowest to highest charge they are: GrubHub, EatStreet, and UberEats.
  • We have available half-tray (serves 4-5) and full-tray (serves 8-10) options if you would like to limit leaving the house but need food for your family or for multiple days. Please see our catering menu for these options and call or email us to order.  For larger catering orders, please contact us 24-48 hours ahead and we can deliver.
  • Both locations will stop taking cash payments.  Only credit and debit card payments will be accepted.

Please also consider ordering delivery or taking your food with you when you order from our Mequon location.  The same above link can be used to order online for pickup. We are working to add delivery option to this link also. In the meantime, UberEats is our other option there.

We appreciate your business, understanding, and patience during this difficult time, and we’re committed to helping you weather this crisis.

-Your friends at Bowls and Bowls Mequon.
